Version 11.0.0 (December 06, 2020. Initial Release of Version 11):

  • Added support to GSFLOW. The interface has been successfully tested and applied on a watershed model with daily time steps for a period of 16 years.
  • Added a function to import matrix values to area(s) defined by polygon(s).
  • Added a function to export endpoints from a MODPATH simulation in addition to pathlines, timemarks, and starting points.
  • Added a function to allow for import well package input file with the Options block (used by the MODFLOW-NWT) that contains the keyword SPECIFY and the value PSIPRAMP. The TABFILES of the OPTIONS block remains unsupported.
  • Improved the import functionalities of the WellFile (in Tools > Package > Append Wells). It can now use screen interval depths in addition to the screen interval elevations.

  • Fixed a bug in the UZF1 package interface that did not work correctly during the grid refinement.
  • Fixed a crash bug in the Model Inspection tool that may crash when inspecting data of the well package.
  • Fixed a bug in the Data Import tool. The bug may lead to program crash when importing a 3D array to an aquifer property.
  • Fixed a bug in the Data Export tool. When exporting initial concentration (or other species-dependent matrices) to a 3D array file, a value of zero exported for all layers except the current layer.
  • Fixed a bug in MT3D-USGS. The bug incorrectly sets constant-concentration cells (ICBUND<0) to active (variable) concentration cells in the second and subsequent stress periods.

Version 10.0.23 (January 3, 2020)

  • Added the column-cross section tool for visualizing model cross section and/or to edit model data on column cross section view

  • Fixed a bug in the model data inspection tool for the Flow and Head Boundary Package. The bug prevented that package to perform inspection.
  • Fixed a bug in the SFR2 Package importing function. The bug occurred when a negative value is assigned to NSTRM of the input file to the SFR2 package.
  • Fixed a bug in MODFLOW model import function. A model may not be imported correctly, if its name file contains file type DATA that points to external data files and that such external files contain more than one data array.
  • Updated/added documents of tutorial 1 and tutorial 3.

Version 10.0.22 (August 28, 2019)

  • Fixed a bug in the Drain Package importing tool that does not correctly import Drain Package input file from a model that is not stored in the FREE format.
  • Fixed a bug in the Append Wells tool (Tools > Package > Append Wells) that incorrectly assign multiple instances of wells to transient models.
  • Fixed a bug in the ASCII Raster Import tool that prevented ASCII raster files to be correctly imported.

Version 10.0.19 (1/1/2019):

Version 10.0.18 (11/12/2018):

  • Fixed a bug that prevented PEST from working correctly as the bug added multiple entries of “OC 118 MODFLOW.OC” to the Name file modflow.nam.

Version 10.0.17 (11/07/2018):

  • Added support to the Streamflow Transport (SFT) Package of MT3D-USGS.
  • Added functions for copying data between model parameters, e.g., from HK to VK.
  • Added a “Start the data editor in the first stress period” check box in the Preferences dialog box. If this box is checked, the data editor will always start in the first stress periodl. If this box is not checked, the data editor will start in the current stress period. The latter was the default behavior of previous versions of PMX.
  • Improved the Import Data function to allow for importing matrix values to most flow packages (such as DRN, WEL, RIV).
  • Improved the Output Control dialog box of MODFLOW.
  • Fixed a bug in the Upstream Weighting Package of MODFLOW-NWT, where the layer types are always defined as confined regardless of user’s settings.
  • Fixed a bug in the function that imports the input data of the Newton Solver of MODFLOW-NWT.
  • Fixed bugs in the import functions of the CHD, DRN, DRT, GHB, RIV, and WEL Packages. Although this error rarely happens, the bugs may prevent the auxiliary data, such as DRNBELEV used by SEAWAT, from being imported correctly.
  • Fixed bugs in the interface to the MODFLOW SWI2 package.

Version 10.0.16 (9/24/2018):

  • Added support to the Streamflow-Routing (SFR2) Package.

  • Updated MODFLOW-NWT from v.1.1.3 to v.1.1.4
  • Modified the interface of Flow and Head Boundary (FHB) Package for concentration data input
  • Fixed a bug in the import function of the SSM package of MT3D, where concentration data associated with the FHB package could not be imported.
  • Fixed bugs in the Copy Cell Data function of the Row Cross Section tool when editing the STR Package or Wetting Threshold.
  • Fixed bugs in the hightlight cells function of the Row Cross Section tool when editing certain packages.
  • Fixed bugs in the Add Particles dialog box that failed to add multiple layers of particles on circles.
  • Fixed bugs in the MODPATH interface that was not able to assign recharge and/or ET to a particular cell face.

  • Fixed a bug in the Observation dialog box. Observation data could not be assigned to new observation points unless the dialog box is closed and reopened.

Version 10.0.15 (7/14/2018):

  • Added the display of the zeta surface of SWI2 (i.e., the interface between seawater and freshwater) to the cross-section window.
  • Added potentiometric surface or groundwater level (based on head result of MODFLOW) to the cross-section window.
  • Added color-filled contours of input parameters and model results to the cross-section window.
  • Added flow vectors to the cross-section window.

  • Fixed the measure tool that did not work correctly when the map is rotated (i.e., when the Rotation Tool button is depressed).
  • Fixed a bug in the code that generates grid specification file for PEST. The bug prevented the PEST utility program MOD2SMP.EXE from running correctly, and the it is not possible for PEST to complete parameter estimation process. Only models with regularly spaced grid column and row widths are affected.

Version 10.0.14 (6/20/2018):

  • Added support to the Seawater Intrusion 2 Package.
  • Added the time-step control to the cross-section tool and greatly improved the display speed of the cross-section.
  • Added a new parameter type “Transient Sandbox”, where matrix data may be assigned to several stress periods. Contour maps at arbitrary time points between those periods can be created based on linearly interpolation of the available matrix data.
  • Added a “remove wells” tool that removes wells of all stress periods with flow rates lie within a given range.
  • Added all examples of the Seawater Intrusion 2 Package to the Setup.
  • Added all examples of SEAWAT 2000 and SEAWAT V.4 to the Setup.
  • Fixed bugs in the interface to the MODFLOW UZF1 package.
  • Fixed a bug that may cause importing of the BCF package to fail if the model has more than 40 layers and the BCF input file is saved in the formatted format.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented MT3D from running correctly if the Sorption type in the Reaction Package is “Dual-domain mass transfer (without sorption)”.
  • The MT3D Sink/Source Mixing Package is now always included in the simulation if the flow model is transient.
  • Fixed a crash bug in the MT3D > View > Production Concentration Summary.
  • Fixed a bug in the Setup that installed the executable of MT3DMS (mt3dms5b.exe) to an incorrect folder.
  • Fixed a bug in the startup process of PMX where a message box is displayed behind the splash window and thus blocked the application from starting up. This bug appears only when a Standard windows user starts PMX that is installed through per-machine installation.

  • Added a window to display cross-section along model rows and to allow for editing model data.

  • Fixed a bug in the import function of the WEL package from input files that are saved in the FREE format. The bug prevented pumping wells from being imported.

Version 10.0.11 (2/28/2018):

  • Added a tool to import WellFile in Tools > Package > Append Wells. A Well file stores long/lat coordinates and screen intervals of wells, as well as their pumping/injection rates per stress period. It is a quick way to translate pumping/injection schedule to the model.
